WEATHER CLOSURE: All campuses of HISD will be closed Friday (Feb. 4th) due to the threat of icy road conditions early tomorrow morning. Classes will resume on Monday (Feb 7th). The closure will impact many of our athletic and extracurricular activities scheduled this weekend. Please watch for information directly from your students’ activity sponsors (coaches, bands directors, teachers, etc.) through Remind. We will try to post all schedule updates at https://HendersonISD.org/weather as well. By 12:30 p.m, Thursday, temperatures had already dropped below freezing in a few portions of the district and we expect that to continue overnight. While temperatures may climb above freezing tomorrow afternoon, we do not yet know if it will be enough to allow for safe travel Friday afternoon or evening. We are in contact with forecasters and local emergency management authorities to best assess the current situation. HISD’s priority remains keeping our students and staff safe and will cancel or postpone activities if travel is potentially dangerous. Watch our website (HendersonISD.org/weather) for updates. Please stay safe and warm during this wintery weather.

Condolences to the family of long-time HISD employee Sue Fears It is with deep sadness that the district learned today about the passing of Sue Fears, a longtime Henderson ISD employee. We offer our condolences to her family and friends. Ms. Fears just recently retired from HISD after 26 years of dedicated service to our students and family. She worked at Henderson Middle School for many years, most recently working with our D.A.E.P and P.R.I.D.E. Academy students at the Montgomery Achievement Center. She was committed to students, always the first one on campus each morning and almost never missed a day. It was well known that Ms. Fears had a special place in her heart for students who faced life’s greatest challenges. She was loved by her students and will be truly missed by those who were privileged to work with her on a daily basis.

Every morning, more than 3,400 Henderson students across five HISD campuses begin their day with pledges of allegiance to the flags of the United States and the State of Texas. They then observe a minute of silence. This patriotic and time-honored tradition during the morning announcements is something we will proudly continue for years to come. #HendersonISD #LiveLikeYouROAR
